Theme:
We welcome all creative styles. Your submission could be a poem or monologue based on a funny situation, a sci-fi or fantasy story of your creation, or an adventure you've possibly experienced or dream of. The choice is yours!
Length:
Your performance must not exceed 1 minute (60 seconds).
Edit:
Ensure to slate at the start of your recording. Slatting is simply introducing your piece for the competition. State ‘This is my Performance Competition entry for Creative Industries Academy’, and announce the title of your piece. For example: “‘Hello, this is my performance competition entry for Creative Industries Academy, and the title of my monologue is ‘The Forgotten Shoe’. This does not count towards your 60 second limit. There must be no cuts between your introduction and your performed monologue/poem – it has to play as one single take.
Registration and Submission:
Have a parent or guardian register you for the competition by completing the registrations form here. Once registered, your parent/guardian will receive a private link so that they may upload both the recorded performance and a PDF file of the written monologue/poem. Please ensure the PDF file includes the title of the monologue/poem. For example: The Forgotten Shoe.
Parents/Guardians must submit entries by midnight on Sunday 2nd June 2024.
Parents/Guardians may choose to keep us in the loop with your progress and share behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram. If you and your parents/guardians agree, we’ll repost to our followers (and your competitors), so be mindful what you share!
Winner:
The winning performance will be published across all Creative Industries Academy platforms.
Rules of entry:
Your monologue or poem must be original – you must have written it yourself.
A Parent/Guardian must submit both a written copy (as a PDF file) and footage of your performance to be entered into the competition.
You are entitled to make a maximum of two entries but each entry must be different and in a different format - either a poem or monologue. You may not enter two monologues or two poems.
Parents/Guardians must only submit video footage filmed for the purpose of this competition. Remember, you must ‘slate’ at the beginning as mentioned in the ‘edit’ section.
Submissions made after midnight on Sunday 2nd June will not be accepted.
Your performance must not exceed 1 minute (60 seconds).
Winners will be announced on Friday 7th June 2024 and prizes will be issued within 28 days of the winners being announced.
Good luck!
