Inspired Minds & Empowered Communicators
Our curriculum is meticulously crafted to not just meet the rigorous learning objectives set by LAMDA, but to go beyond them.
Our curriculum is well sequenced, progressive and flexible, ensuring learners can develop their knowledge and skills regardless of their starting point.
For learners who are novice, we scaffold ideas and skills from simple to complex, guiding them through gradual steps of understanding and mastery so that they have a solid foundation to expand upon for future success in drama or speech.
For instance, in performance, we begin by introducing basic techniques such as body language and vocal projection. As learners become comfortable with these fundamentals, we gradually introduce more advanced concepts such as character development, improvisation, and stage presence. Each new skill builds upon the foundation established in earlier lessons, ensuring that students develop a comprehensive understanding of the dramatic arts.
Similarly, in speech, we start by paying particular attention to eunciation, diction and projection. We move on to teaching learners how to organise their thoughts and structure their speeches effectively. As they gain confidence in speaking, we introduce techniques for engaging an audience, using persuasive language, story telling and explore vocal dynamics such as tone, pace and pitch. Through guided practice and constructive feedback, students refine their speaking abilities and expand their repertoire of communication skills.
For learners who already have experience or are advanced in certain areas, our curriculum is flexible enough to be tailored to their expertise, closing any gaps and enhancing their existing knowledge and skills.
We encourage learners to explore their interests, take risks, and pursue their passions.
We will always provide clear and concise learning outcomes, outlining to our learners what they are expected to know, understand, and be able to do to be successful in their chosen LAMDA examination. For example, we will provide clarity around which specific vocal and projection techniques you need to be secure in, or what knowledge is needed around writing devices and dramatic intentions, so that you may demonstrate your understanding to the examiner.
Throughout our process, we actively engage students' prior knowledge and experiences, creating connections that help make learning more meaningful and relevant. Educational research has shown that this approach also helps learners better retain new information. By building upon what learners already know, we also foster confidence and motivation, encouraging them to take risks and explore new creative possibilities.
We empower our learners to take ownership of their educational journey, regardless of their starting point.
Alongside actively integrating LAMDA standards into our teaching methods in the classroom, we also provide further guidance and learning activities to be used at home. By integrating learning into everyday life, families can support the development of their child. Family members may also begin to discover their own unique and hidden talents!
By participating in our curriculum, learners not only acquire technical proficiency and artistic expression in performance and communication, but also cultivate essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and self-direction.
Our learners graduate with not only a developed understanding of their chosen field, but also the confidence and agency to navigate and excel in their daily lives.
Our approach benefits students by promoting deeper understanding, enhancing communication skills, and building self-confidence. By providing a well-sequenced curriculum and scaffolded learning experiences, we empower students to express themselves authentically and connect with audiences in powerful ways.
