Camp Creative: A Spectacular May Half Term!
We’ve just wrapped up one of our most exciting holiday programmes yet—and what a week it was! This May Half Term marked the return of Camp Creative, and with it, a brand-new full-day format. Running from 8:30am to 5:00pm, the extended hours gave our students more time to dive into creativity, collaboration, and fun—and they made the most of every minute!
Throughout the week, children explored a wide range of creative and leadership activities. From high-energy drama warm-ups and imaginative storytelling to full-scale productions where they scripted, directed, and performed their own plays—our campers brought incredible energy, originality, and teamwork to every challenge.
Alongside the fun, we focused on building essential life skills that go far beyond the stage. Students developed:
🎭 Creative & Performance Skills – storytelling, character work, directing, and stagecraft
🧠 Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking – planning, decision-making, and adapting under pressure
🗣️ Communication – verbal and non-verbal expression, active listening, and giving clear instructions
🤝 Social & Leadership Skills – teamwork, cooperation, turn-taking, and peer feedback
💪 Physical Coordination – balance, agility, and body awareness
⏱️ Time & Task Management – prioritising, organising, and working to deadlines
🎯 Emotional Resilience – patience, perseverance, confidence, and self-regulation
These aren’t just theatre skills—they’re life skills. Whether working as part of a team, leading a project, or expressing themselves with confidence, students left with tools they can use in school, friendships, and future challenges.
🎬 Highlights Included:
Creating and performing original plays in small groups
Running their own production meetings—plotting, casting, staging, and designing
Giving and receiving feedback in a supportive environment
Participating in engaging team challenges and leadership tasks
The feedback? Overwhelmingly positive! Students told us how much they enjoyed the week, how proud they were of what they created, and how much they grew—while having a tremendous amount of fun.
We’re already looking forward to the next one. If Camp Creative was anything to go by, the future is bright—and brimming with creativity!

A HUGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO ALL THE TALENTED STUDENTS AT FAIRSTEAD HOUSE SCHOOL
A Practically Perfect Performance: Mary Poppins Jr. Delights and Inspires
The school’s recent production of Mary Poppins Jr. was nothing short of magical. From the moment the curtain rose, the audience was transported into the whimsical world of Cherry Tree Lane, where an extraordinary nanny, a charming chimney sweep, and two mischievous children reminded us all of the power of kindness, adventure, and a little bit of magic.
Mary Poppins herself was simply enchanting. With a graceful presence and a voice as clear as a bell, she brought warmth and wisdom to the role, making us all believe in the magic of a spoonful of sugar. Bert was full of charm and energy, leading the cast with boundless enthusiasm and a twinkle in her eye.
The Banks children gave performances filled with humour and heart, capturing both the mischief and vulnerability of their characters beautifully. George Banks showed wonderful depth, taking the audience on an emotional journey from strict businessman to a father who rediscovers joy. The ever-patient Winifred Banks brought warmth and quiet strength to her role, making her character’s transformation a touching highlight.
The supporting cast added layers of humour and heart to the production. Mrs. Brill had impeccable comedic timing, while Robertson Ay was a scene-stealer with his hilarious antics. The flustered Katie Nana set the stage for the chaos to come, and the formidable Miss Andrew was delightfully intimidating. Mrs. Brill’s maids brought wonderful energy to their roles, making the household scenes even more vibrant.
The business world of the Banks family was brought to life with stellar performances from the kind-hearted John Northbrook, the ambitious Von Hussler, the no-nonsense Mr. Smythe, and the commanding Chairman. Each of them added an extra layer of authenticity to the production.
No performance of Mary Poppins Jr. would be complete without a little magic in the park, and Neleus brought the statue to life with elegance and grace. The Bird Woman delivered a touching performance that made Feed the Birds a true standout moment. Mrs. Corry filled the stage with delightful mischief, while the Policeman kept Cherry Tree Lane in order with his charm.
The ensemble brought the bustling streets of London to life with lively performances, showcasing impressive dance numbers and infectious enthusiasm. Their energy and commitment to each scene added to the magic of the show.
A special mention must go to the wonderful Year 3 and 4 children, whose beautiful singing added an extra layer of charm to the performance. Their voices filled the space with warmth, creating a rich and joyful atmosphere that supported the cast brilliantly.
Every child on that stage shone brightly, creating a truly unforgettable evening. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for a performance they will all remember for a long time!
